Ok, I like Artas much as anyone, really. This is a very finely crafted piece of work, both drawing and model wise. But lets get down to reality here. Theres no way a Tau Female is going to be going out onto the field dressed like this, thats a serious lack of armor!. If you wanna make all the little fan boys horny over her, thats ok, but in the middle of a gun fight, if they're not busy staring at her breasts, they're busy SHOOTING at them. Thats a complete lack of armor. Also, she's going to be needing help to be holding up two heavy weapons like that. Tau Commander has a full exo suit, you have a Tau Female with nothing but two vambraces.
STILL. I must have to repeat, I still think its a dang cool model. Just not realistic. Just adding my two cents plus a nickle.
Seriously Gunney, it's a hobby, an art if you would. Warhammer 40k is not just about playing and everything being according to the book. Quite a good conversion from only having concept art and the finished model was painted marvelously. I doubt he'd use it in a game but it would be a good showpiece. And besides, she might have a shield generator or shield drone to keep her safe and powered gaunlets to give her 'oompth'.
Well, perhaps they made her weapons lighter for her to hold, which would make them less lethal but still effective. Plus, I have seen units with less armor from other races. Perhaps she is a light unit and the lack of armor is for speed. Either way, she's cute!
It's anime-style, and I think that is very true to T'au design. The battlesuits and T'au armor are designed to look like anime mecha, so why not make the T'au more anime-esque themselves?
Kudos on an awesome drawing and a great model! And keep in mind that if your 40k friends are into anime they will likely be staring at her, not shooting... at least initially.
I'm a Tau Fan my self and also Play the game(as Tau), and I have to say thats some great work. as for anime well theres a joke rule my friends speak of an thats the less clothing a female wears the more powerful she is.
wow, thats really good conversion job, looks like the body and head are made entirely of green stuff! not to mention the fact that with a hot Tau like that in my army my friends ulramarines won't stand a chance! with her lack of clothing i'd give her a 2+ armour save (LOL).
As WH40K is a fictional, not to mention sci-fi universe - I think 'realistic' is limited to one's imagination. We don't know what materials those guns (the ones on her arms) are made of, they could be constructed from very tough but light, exotic materials. Also, note that the Tau utilize anti-gravitic technologies (see the drones in the pic) the guns could have built in suspensors to compensate for the unwieldiness of excessive weight.

Since when has 40k been "realistic"?
