Custom McQuarrie Concept Luke Skywalker Miniature

Here's my inspiration: Kotobukiya's beautiful and very expensive Ralph McQuarrie concept Luke Skywalker statue. (Lots of high-quality photos here.) I set out to make a miniature version, using miniatures from Wizards of the Coast.

I used the Jedi Consular's head, Arcona Smuggler's torso (it's too thin, but has a great backpack), Dark Side Enforcer's legs, and Bail Organa's arms (with their gorilla-sized hands). The pieces more or less match up, but it sure would be nice if Wizards of the Coast used better quality control and standardized the size of their miniatures. You can buy blind boxes of the latest set of Star Wars miniatures for about 30% off at Amazon. I typically just buy common and uncommon singles at CoolStuffInc.

Here you can see the assembled figure. I used green stuff to add the scuba gear.

And here's the painted miniature. As always, when I see a miniature blown up to this size, I notice various spots that need to be cleaned up, but you get the idea.

  1. Beautiful custom!!! About as good as I've every seen. And thanks for the instructions... I'll have to give it a try myself.
